The use of statins for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease in older adults remains controversial.  This debate will present the pros and cons of statins (and other lipid-lowering agents) in older adults based on the most recently available evidence and clinical practice guidelines.  Learning Objectives: (1) review evidence in favor of the use of statins for primary prevention of coronary artery disease in older adults; (2) review evidence against the use of statins for primary prevention of coronary artery disease in older adults.
